The annual outdoor show at the Viejas Casino in San Diego. This show features live dancers with lasers, projections, fire, smoke and a dancing waters fountain. The dancers must perform in very cold weather and in slippery conditions, and costumes must stand up to a complete drenching in water with bromine- a strong bleach for fabrics. An additional challenge is dressing 3 or 4 dancers exactly alike so no one can tell which performer is playing that show. A large part of the costume designers’ job for live themed entertainment is addressing rigorous physical demands, disguising differences, creating body illusions or changing proportions.
